Doug MacLeod
Doug
was born in New York City and was in his early teens when his family moved
to St. Louis, where he first heard the blues. In the mid-60's he enlisted
in the Navy, and while stationed at Norfolk, VA., began to play acoustic
country blues in the coffeehouses in Virginia and Maryland. Following
his service in the Navy, Doug attended The Berklee School of Music. The
next few years he explored jazz, played the blues guitar part for the
road show Grease, and even led Mary MacGregor's band following her pop
hit "Torn Between Two Lovers" before returning to his roots
and his first love. After a meeting with Shakey Jake Harris in 1978, Doug
began playing the blues in the Los Angeles area ----an encouraging encounter
with Juke Logan at this time was also instrumental in Doug's return to
blues.
"Never
play a note you don't believe." That's the advice a one-eyed country
blues singer named Ernest Banks from Toano, VA. gave long ago to singer-songwriter
guitarist Doug MacLeod, who has since emerged as one of the most highly
respected blues artists on the scene today. You can check out Doug's
own website if you want to know more about this talented musician...Here's Doug's email.
Fortunately,
Doug crossed paths with John "Juke" Logan, and as the years
progressed, these two finally put it together that such like minded musicians
might ought to get together on stage...."'Live'
As It Gets" is a product of that union. Doug appears courtesy
